Even when you're really short on time, the most important gift you can give your body is to set aside even a few minutes each day to move. You don't need to be disappointed if you can't do as much exercise as you would like, the main thing is to be consistent in the goals you have set and not to give up. The following tips will help if you want to get more exercise in your life, but also want to make better use of your time!

  1. Make a weekly fitness plan. It is very easy to turn to the lack of time explanation to justify the complete lack of exercise in our daily lives. By creating a program that fits even a few minutes of exercise on certain days and times of the week, you will see that it is not more time required, but better organization to succeed!
  2. Set small, achievable goals! Especially in the beginning, if you don't do any physical activity in your life, set small goals that you can easily achieve. For example, 10-15 minutes each day is definitely enough for you to do some brisk walking around the neighborhood!
  3. Take advantage of your weekends and days off. Your non-working days may de devoted to other priorities, such as taking care of the family, the home, and of course relaxing from a difficult week. But at the same time, they offer  great opportunities for you to get out of the routine and go for a long walk in nature, go for a run or go to the gym.
  4. Travel by foot and not by car. If your workplace, or the children's school is not too far, it is better to get into the habit of walking or even cycling every day, rather than relying on the rest that the car offers you.
  5. Take the stairs, not the elevator. Who doesn't want strong bones and toned legs? Take the stairs to go to another floor and skip the elevator.
  6. Reduce TV and screen time. When you're at home in front of the TV or cell phone, time is lost before you even know it, and then you don't have any time for something more creative, like self-care. Change the channel, put on exercise videos, roll out the yoga mat and work out!
  7. Work out at home. This way you have to spend literally zero time to go to and return from the gym. If you can only afford half an hour a day for a workout, it's really hard to commit to a gym or sport or dance school membership. However, if you have a very basic equipment at home such as an exercise mat, dumbbells and rubber bands, which are inexpensive and do not take up much space, you can work out without having to lose time getting there, getting dressed, etc.
  8. Work out with friends! Our friends and beloved ones can motivate us to work out, when we struggle to find the determination to do so ourselves.
  9. Choose the kind of exercise you enjoy the most. If you get bored of the gym equipment or can't stand pilates, try different forms of exercise until you find what works best for you and you can make it a part of your daily routine.
